Illinois Council of State Representative
Hello, my name is Andrew Vo and I am honored to be your Illinois State representative. I am a junior studying mechanical engineering working toward my bachelors at the University of Illinois at Chicago. I have started my journey with UIC VSA since my freshman year of college. My impression from the first general body meeting was life changing because I found a community of people that had the cultural interests , humor, motivations, and more. My experience with my local VSA is more directed toward a family atmosphere where everyone is welcomed rather than separated in your their personal bubble. My goal is to bring out the Vietnamese community to other schools that want to get closer to their roots. I plan on having statewide events that both people from Illinois schools and other states can go to. I am very excited to be representing my state and to show how much pride Illinois has on the Vietnamese community!
Indiana Council of State Representative
Hi 🙂 My name is Tony Do and I have the pleasure to be serving as Indiana’s state representative. I am a junior at the University of Notre Dame studying chemical engineering. Previously, I served as our VSA’s president, but now am serving as its vice president. My first experience with UVSA-Midwest was the 15th VIA-1 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Since then, I have been working to expand Indiana’s involvement with UVSA-Midwest. There is so much history in Indiana because UVSA-Midwest actually originated here! I am so happy and honored to be in this position because I want Vietnamese student involvement to grow. There is so much untapped potential in everyone that goes without notice. My goal is that my involvement with UVSA-Midwest will help inspire new student leaders to lead their respective communities, both within VSA and beyond.
Michigan Council of State Representative
My name is Uyen Nguyen, and I am the current State Representative for the state of Michigan. I am a senior at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. I currently hold an officer position within my local VSA as a part of the Dem Viet Nam Board (our local VSA’s largest event, with an attendance record of over 600 people). This is my second term as Michigan State Representative and have been involved with the planning of all UVSA-Midwest events. I want to be able to bring UVSA-Midwest to my own VSA and to the VSAs of Michigan and increase participation among our schools to generate more relationships across the Midwest. A fun fact about my state is that the University of Michigan and Michigan State University (my bias is showing) are some of the biggest rivals in the Big 10 Conference (collegiate football) and are only within an hour of each other!
Kentucky Council of State Representative
Hi my name is David Ha and I’m the Kentucky State Representative. I’m currently a junior at the University of Louisville studying Business Marketing! My dream is to one day, live in a big city with a great market working for a business that truly is passionate about what they do and why they do it. Something unique about my State is that EVERYONE thinks we eat KFC here but truly nobody eats that for chicken LOL. What I want to accomplish during my term for COSR is to have my school be more active and gain recognition from UVSA Midwest in a way where we’re strongly involved and encouraged to do better!
Ohio Council of State Representative
Iowa Council of State Representative
My name is Cuong Nguyen, and I am currently the State Representative for Iowa. I am a junior studying mathematics at University of Iowa. I had been a part of UIowa’s VSA since my freshman year. My first interaction with UVSA-Midwest was at the 14th annual VIA-1 in Madison, Wisconsin. After that conference, I had make some new friends and also learnt that there are many people across the country that share the same cultural interest as me. Since then I had been involved with my local VSA more and also attend more UVSA-Midwest’s events. My goal is that I want to increase the Iowa attendees at UVSA-Midwest’s events so they can learn new leadership skills and create more connection which then will help them not only become a better leader within VSA but also in all aspects of their life.
Kansas Council of State Representative
