2009 Collective Philanthropy Project

These goals were set at the 2008-2009 UVSA-MW Executive Board Retreat at Purdue University on January 16th-18th, 2009.

About VietHope

VietHope was formed in the spring of 2002 by a group of university students and young professionals in the Boston area. It is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to Vietnam’s socioeconomic development, which the members believe must be based on long-term perspectives and sustainable results. The primary focus of VietHope is on supporting programs and projects to promote the education of the children of Vietnam.

VietHope operates on three core principles that guide their projects and organization – Dedication, Professionalism, and Execution. By operating at low costs and with high efficiency, building on a worldwide network of supporters and donors, and working with dedicated volunteers in the US and in Vietnam, VietHope has been able to create educational opportunities for youth of all ages in Vietnam.

This Year’s CPP Campaign

This year, the funds raised via the CPP campaign will go towards creating the Youth Development Program, where university students in Vietnam will learn valuable skills such as communication, organization, and project management via community service. While workshops and training sessions will be held throughout each year, the annual Youth Development Summit will be the premier event. Once a year, students and young professionals from the US will travel to Vietnam for a leadership summit, where their Vietnam based counterparts will participate in their workshops and learn the technical skills needed to organize and execute projects that better their own communities. A portion of the funds will also help establish the first VietHope office to coordinate the program at the ground level as well as expand the Expand University Scholarship Program to serve more students.

To accomplish this goal, uNAVSA and VietHope will collaborate to raise the necessary funds (approximately $44,500USD). uNAVSA invites constituent organizations throughout the United States and Canada to participate in this year’s CPP campaign.
