Substance Abuse Policy & Consequences

All attendees and staff are required to sign a waiver agreeing to this Substance Abuse Policy or they will not be allowed to attend any UVSA-Midwest sponsored or sanctioned event. Along with the consequences listed below, all attendees will also be subjected to any of the attending state’s regulations and fines.

Attendee Policy:

There is a Zero Tolerance Policy implemented for all attendees. This policy entails no warnings given to attendees as well as immediate disciplinary action. Attendees may be subjected to consequences for excessive noise, loitering in public areas, or substance abuse in non-permitted areas. In addition to the consequences determined by the Conference Staff members and the UVSA-Midwest Executive Board, attendees will not be allowed to attend banquet as punishment. Staff checking attendees into the banquet hall will be given the names of those forbidden from entering.

ALL STAFF, on behalf of all events, have the authority to confiscate an attendee’s alcohol and illegal drugs if they are caught with said items during the event. Confiscated goods will NOT be returned to the owner at the end of the event.

Consequences of Substance Abuse:

There is a Zero Tolerance Policy implemented for all staff and volunteers. This policy entails no warnings given to staff as well as immediate disciplinary action. If a staff member or volunteer is caught in the act of any substance abuse during any event, the Executive Board have the right to dismiss s/he from staff. If a complaint is sanctioned twice in any given event – the result will be an automatic eviction from the event grounds.
