Collective Philanthropy Project

Collective Philanthropy Project

The Collective Philanthropy Project (CPP) is an annual initiative that aims to bring together communities to work collaboratively toward a charitable cause. This project is a joint partnership between UNAVSA and its affiliated groups, which together support philanthropic efforts to make a positive impact on society.

History of CPP

CPP has a rich history dating back to July of 2005. This initiative was originally created in the Midwest region, starting during the UNVSA-2 conference hosted by the Illinois Vietnamese Student Union (IVSU) at DePaul University in Chicago. During the conference, IVSU began hosting fundraising events for the non-profit organization, VietHope, which led to the idea of a collaborative charity project.

After this initial spark, representatives from various regions came together to discuss the logistics of the project, including how the beneficiary would be chosen and other important details. Through a series of meetings and discussions, a decision was made that would later become the foundation of CPP.

Since its inception, CPP has grown to include the participation of VSAs throughout the United States and Canada, working together to support a variety of non-profit organizations through fundraising and community outreach. The project has become a significant part of UNAVSA and its affiliated groups, and it has had a meaningful impact on the communities it serves.

Throughout its history, the CPP has remained committed to the idea of collective philanthropy and the power of collaboration. By pooling their resources and working together, these groups have been able to a greater impact on the world than they would have been able to individually. CPP is a shining example of what can be achieved through dedication, hard work, and a commitment to making a positive difference in the world.
